Sarah stretched, the muscles in her back sighing in relief. The last load of laundry was finally folded, and the house felt peaceful. She had brewed a fresh pot of chamomile tea and settled into her grandmother's old armchair, a comforting embrace of worn fabric and faded patterns.

The attic was next on her list. She'd been putting it off, but today felt right. She opened a box, the musty air stirring up a cloud of dust that momentarily tickled her nose. Among the holiday decorations and forgotten children’s toys, she found a manila envelope. Inside, a single sheet of paper.

Her father’s familiar handwriting filled the page. A letter, typed, but signed with his beloved pen. It was a letter of resignation. She traced the loops of his signature, a wave of fondness washing over her. He had been so brave.

She smiled gently, the corners of her mouth tilting upwards. She felt the warmth of the tea spread through her, a gentle heat echoing the feelings in her chest.
